- 1 cup basmati rice or long-grain rice
- 2 cups water or vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 small onion finely chopped (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic minced (optional)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika optional, for added depth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)
Sauté Aromatics (Optional):
Toast the Spices:
Add the turmeric, cumin, paprika (if using), salt, and pepper to the saucepan. Stir for 30 seconds to toast the spices and release their flavors.
Cook the Rice:
